First of all, let’s just say this . . . it’s time to be getting back on track. Are you struggling with motivation to improve your fitness level?
No More Excuses
Last fall, when I took on a 3rd job, it became increasingly difficult to get exercise time in. I still was able to get a couple of days in a week but not at the level I had been doing prior to that.
Then, while roller skating at my granddaughters birthday party, I fell and ended up with a compression fracture in my lower back. Sadly, I’m sure I don’t have to tell you what that did to my exercise routine.
Now that I’m feeling better it’s been hard to get back into my old routine. I have been on the treadmill walking in an effort to enhance the healing process, and then a couple of weeks ago did a slow jog for the first time since my injury. However, getting the motivation to get back on track has not been easy.
As I mentioned in another post, I have since made the decision to quit 2 of my jobs leaving me with just one full-time position. One of the many reasons for that decision was because I knew I wasn’t taking proper care of myself. It was all I could do just to show up at all those jobs and get the absolute necessities accomplished.
Just Do It!
Well, today was the day I stopped making excuses! I got on that treadmill for 30 minutes for walk and run interval training at an incline of 10 percent. Once I got off I did some stretching exercises for my legs and then got on the floor for abdominal crunches, leg lifts, bicycle crunches, and push ups. Unfortunately, it had been so long since I had done any kind of push up routine that I had to resort to the girl push ups. . . . sadness. But, it’s a step in the right direction and I have every intention of recommitting to my fitness routine!
My running shoes still have a few more good miles on them so I need to “just do it”!
Spring 2017 update: I absolutely love Saucony running shoes. The last several pair of shoes I have purchased have been Saucony. This year is no different. Love – Love – Love them! The link below for the women’s shoe is the series I bought this year. Needing a bit (but not too much) support as I get a little older. These are feeling great for someone who needs a neutral support shoe! Amazon currently has a great price for these. Trust me on this . . . I wish I had seen this before I purchased at my local running shoe store.
I actually feel a sense of relief having made this commitment! I’ve been making what workouts I have been doing too easy. Not even breaking a sweat.
Anyway I’ll be hard at it from now on so I hope those of you who have been on the fence about your fitness routine will join me to a healthier lifestyle!
Who’s with me!?!
