With 2017 coming to a close, I’m getting ready to gear up for a new MTHTZ for 2018!  This is exciting times as My Turkey Hollow Twilight Zone became an official business this year!

As my love for growing expanded, with it came an overflowing abundance of produce.  It soon became clear that I was growing more than it was possible for our small household to consume.  This is where the local food hub came in to play.

I began to grow and sell produce as a way of learning the ropes on market gardening, which then turned into SPIN Farming (small plot intensive farming) opening endless possibilities in the small space farming arena as I continue to learn and use organic growing practices.  It’s true . . . I have officially been bitten by the addictive mycobacterium vaccae  microbes in my soil.

Organic Soil

It turns out the real reason I have been known to call my garden “my happy place” has some actual science behind it.  These microbes increase the serotonin levels in the brain causing an antidepressant response.   More proof that it’s still ok to let your kids play in the dirt!  I could go on, and at some point in another post I may, but what I am excited about today, is the plan for 2018.

New Year New Plan

I am in the process of expanding the growing area on my property to three times the size to allow for more vegetable and herb production.  So while we wait out the cold Midwest winter temps, these tarps are readying the soil for an exciting year to come.

There will be some changes to this website to make it more business user friendly, while still offering ways to grow and use produce for yourselves.

I tell you this because there may be periods of downtime while I’m working on the site.  I will do my best to keep the website work moving swiftly to keep the interruptions to a minimum.  Thank you in advance for your patience.

So as 2017 gives way to 2018, I hope for all of you, a year that allows you to start taking steps to live out your dreams with abundance and prosperity!

Stay tuned for a new MTHTZ . . .
